You don’t hear of many people escaping from Florida to the mountains during the winter but Ashely and Clay and 308 of their friends and family traveled from Jacksonville and Pensacola to the beautiful Biltmore Estate to put on a wedding in excellent style!
Michael and I started very early that day to capture the “getting ready” moments. Ashely had her makeup done by the amazing Wendy with Blush Asheville.
Ashely brought one of her baby shoes to the big day for photos. I couldn’t resist getting a photo of her ring with the shoe. I mean come on, they matched her louboutins!
Quiet possibly one of my favorite details of the day. Dad’s cuff links.
Clay’s boutonniere was so very unique and went with the Old World/ Gatsby theme quiet nicely.
Ashely gave each of her bridesmaids their own gold clutch. They carried these down the aisle instead of flowers. Once again, another unique feature of this wedding!
Ashely wore a Vera Wang dress and it was stunning.
The wedding party and all the guests had a chance to enjoy the estate’s amenities during the weekend and the weather proved to be lenient for this time of year. Michael and I prayed the morning of the wedding for the forecast of rain to hold off until after the ceremony and our prayers were answered! The ceremony took place on Biltmore’s front lawn.
Ashely entered on horse and carriage. Talk about a grand entrance! It was perfect.
The flowers might have been a little heavy for the flower girl… but she didn’t let that phase her one bit!
Here comes the bride! Ashely carried a bouquet filled with orchids, broaches, and pearls! It trailed the ground on purpose. This was an “all or nothing” bouquet!
This is quiet possibly my favorite shot of Ashely and Clay. This is the look of pure joy.
We then were asked to photograph all 308 guest in front of the house. This was our biggest group photo to date! After the photo the doors of the house were opened and all of the guest were treated to a private tour.
Ashely and Clay were a delight to be with on their special day. They are so sweet, easy going, and tons of fun to be around.
The ceremony was very impressive but, if I may share my opinion, not quiet as impressive as the reception. The real party started over at the south terrace under a tent that appeared more like a 5 star hotel’s ballroom. Shay Brown Events really knows how to impress!
The cake was baked and designed by Biltmore’s pastry chef.
First Dance.
Those sweet moments with Dad.
This boy loves his mama!
Those toast had us all rolling!
One of the best moments of the evening was when Ashely’s parents surprised Ashely and Clay with an incredible fireworks show. You probably heard them if you were in Asheville on that evening!
Plenty of delectable treats were served along with an all night performance by a 17 member band called Jesse’s Girls!
Finally the rain came but that didn’t keep this couple from doing their sparkler exit and leaving in this amazing Rolls Royce.
Ashely and Clay came back to Biltmore about a month later to do one of our “Rock the Frock” sessions. This is where the couple gets dressed back up in their wedding attire to do additional photos. Now, we did not intend on doing rain shots but we kind of got stuck out in the rain at the back end of the property! We did try to stay dry but finally Ashely and Clay decided to jump out and do rain shots. BOY! Are we glad they did.
And just to show you how Michael and I work together… The above shot is mine. I usually get the “whole picture” wide shots. Michael’s shot is below. He shoots zoom and captures the intimate, candid shots that I have grown to love!
Now lets back up in the day a bit to before the we got drowned by the downpour. We were so excited that spring came early and the tulips were already in bloom in the massive beautiful gardens at Biltmore.
Shout out to all the wedding professionals that made this day so special.
