Jourdan’s family was told she would not live to be a teenager.
They. were. wrong.
Jourdan became a bride and married the love of her life, Matthew.
And we celebrated.
At 12 years old Jourdan had a spinal fusion because of her scoliosis. She has 2 scars on her back from the surgery. She has a tattoo along one of the scars that says “And though she be little, she is fierce.” The quote is from Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare. In her words, the quote and the scar both sum up what she has been through medically/personally. Her scars are one of her favorite things about herself because it tells so much of her story from where she started to where she is today. This is one of the best tattoos I have ever seen. She initially wavered about covering it up for her wedding and I helped sway her in the direction of NOT covering it up. I LOVE that she has embraced her scars and rejoices in life.
I asked Jourdan to share how she and Matthew met. They were introduced by one of the bridesmaids, Emily, during their sophomore year in college. They were good friends who were drawn to each other and often had flirtatios banter between each other. After a year of being friends they started dating. Immediately their relationship took off. They traveled to Europe together, graduated college together, and are now starting an amazing new chapter in their lives.
Jourdan and Matthew’s wedding was no small event. This wedding was SPECTACULAR!! It was truly a celebration of life and love. Here are our favorite details and moments from this amazing day on the Biltmore Estate.
Invites!
Save the dates!
The flowers were by the spectacular Blossoms of Biltmore Park. Here are the bridesmaids bouquets and gifts, bracelets and earrings, from the bride!
Matthew’s ring had wood in it and was the most unique groom’s ring I have ever seen!
Flower girl cuteness.
Shout out to Christie with Blush Asheville for her amazingness.
Bling, bling! It was definitely a theme throughout the wedding. I loved it!
First look with dad. It was a tear jerker for sure!
This was a first one for us! The guys got a shave at the Asheville Barber and Beard. Michael joined them to grab a few shots on site. I am in love with these journalistic shots. How fun!!
Here is the part of the story when I HAVE to give a HUGE shout out to Becca from Asheville Event Company. She and her team worked hard to pull off some amazing details to this spectacular event.
Why yes that is a baby grand piano and a cellist under a chandelier. They performed the ceremony music. You can also see the mother of the bride was super happy with this day.
This was new to us too. This is a precious tribute to the grandparents that have passed away. Wow.
Mother and Father of the groom.
Sometimes they smile and sometimes they cry. 🙂
And then we all cried.
Especially because Matthew did this.
These two had SO much joy. This is eye candy for photographers.
Communion to one of my favorite songs by Matt Redman, 10,000 reasons.
Um… yea. This reception!!! I am kind of at loss for how spectacular it was. I will just have to let the photos do the talking.
What celebration of life and love is complete without a spectacular fireworks display?! I overheard one of the guest ask Matthew in jest… “You have been to other weddings haven’t you? Who does this?!”
Pyrotecnico out of Columbia, SC are responsible for this amazingness.
Shout out to Ian Riley for helping us capture these images. We needed a third hand for some of these shots and he did not disappoint!
So after the fireworks Jourdan and Matthew did a grand exit. Photographically this is the most difficult exits we have ever shot because of all the action. Jourdan and Matthew walked through “gerbs” (NFL style) and then kissed in front of a display of smaller fireworks called mines.
Happily ever after.
Shout out to these professionals that helped make this day so special.
