If I were a wedding critic I would describe this wedding as “Simple, yet elegant. Full of sentimental, beautiful moments and hilariously fun!”
Michael and I met Kayleen and Rob when they hired us for their wedding. After I photographed their engagement session they wanted to meet the whole family so we all went out to dinner one night. Since then we have become friends with this amazing couple and have gotten to see them more often. When it came time for their big day we knew them on a much more personal level and it made the day much more meaningful to us. Knowing a person’s story always has this effect. At one moment Rob made us stop shooting. He made Michael, Kayleen, and I get in a group hug and made us take in the moment. He told us how much he appreciated our friendship and our service to them. He couldn’t imagine having any other person there sharing in their day. What a thought! That meant the world to us to be that loved and appreciated.
I love this couple’s passion for life. They know how to be so sincere and how to cut loose and have fun too! I never realized how big of a “ham” Rob was. (note the garter photos) Kayleen just laughed at him and joined in. It wasn’t a hard task to capture the emotional or funny shots at this wedding. They happened ALL day long.
Another thing that made this day so special was the weather. It was dark skies and rainy when we showed up and we all were praying for the weather to break. Really praying! And just before the ceremony the clouds began to part revealing blue sky. NO RAIN! At that point we still weren’t sure if their would be a pretty sunset. Grand Highlands Venue is known for their spectacular sunsets. I looked at Michael at one point in the reception and told him to start praying for a sunset because I knew how much Kayleen and Rob wanted one.
God granted us a sunset. One of the best I have ever seen. I told Kayleen and Rob to take in God’s gift. As I was walking away to give them that moment I turned around and grabbed this shot of them soaking it in.
You may remember on Mother’s day I blogged the Mother/Son dance
with Rob and his mom. To understand this next photo you have to check out that post.
Cupcakes instead of a grooms cake. (They matched the fella’s outfits!) Shout out to Demetria Gilliam-Williams for the cupcakes and Filo
for the big cake!
Shout out to J.Crew for this dress. It was perfect for this type of wedding and for Kayleen’s personality. PERFECT.
Carly Pallock did a fantastic job on Kayleen’s makeup! Ashton Silvers did Kayleen’s hair, and trust me it took a while to do all those curls! Kayleen made an absolute stunning bride!
Kayleen and Rob exchanged letters before the ceremony. These were SUCH beautiful moments.
SO this band was amazing. Shout out to the band “Lyric” for this moment. Leeda Lyric Jones sang “At Last” by Etta James to Kayleen and Rob as they danced. Rob of course hammed it up.
