Jordan and Kyle’s Biltmore Lioncrest Wedding

Jordan and Kyle had an amazing Biltmore wedding on a pretty rainy day in May. However they did NOT let that get them down! As Asheville wedding photographers we are learning that rain is just a part of the game and nothing to be afraid of. The fact that Jordan and Kyle were SO calm about it made a world of difference. We adore these images and moments from their stunning wedding and are so happy to share them with you!

Jordan and Kyle first met in 2006, in Sanford NC where both of them were born and raised. Jordan used to frequent the Jackson Brother’s BBQ when she was in high school, driving through the drive thru in a bright red Toyota Celica. Kyle noticed her car first but then made it his mission to meet the “girl in the red Celica.” He would come to the grill when he saw her car drive up and would also see her car around Sanford week in & out. Finally, they met one day at the local pool hall through mutual friends. Jordan’s first memory of Kyle included seeing him a cowboy hat, shooting pool, and wildly flirting with her. Jordan finished school at Meredith College and Kyle finished school across the street at NC State. They kept in touch over the years through mutual friends. 13 years later…..well, here we are, happier than ever and ready to begin our life together!

We interviewed Jordan about her and Kyle and a bit about their wedding day! Here is what they had to say…

What was the flavor of your wedding cake? We had cupcakes, some were red velvet with caramel frosting, and the others were hazelnut with dark chocolate frosting.

What did you and your guests eat at the reception? Appetizer: Artichoke & White Cheddar Croquette, Salad, Entree: Filet of Beef, Jumbo Crab Cake, Marbles Potatoes, Asparagus

A bit about Jordan: I work as a physician recruiter in Durham, NC. I love to travel, read, and hang out with friends. I graduated from Meredith College for undergrad and went on to get my Master of Business at East Carolina. My friends would say that I am dedicated, dependable, and fiercely passionate about being successful at work, as well as equally supportive and dedicated with my friendships and relationships.

What tangible detail of your wedding day did you love the most? My wedding dress. I truly felt like a princess. I’m so happy that I went with something that had a unique cut and color, and definitely a long train with the buttons down the back. I felt like a show stopper, which is exactly what I wanted for my wedding day.
A bit about Kyle: After graduating form NC State University, Kyle started a painting and contracting company based out of Raleigh, NC, which he has now owned and operated going on 14 years. He loves being outdoors, hunting, fishing, tinkering, and always learning new things.
Kyle proposed on a “magical” cruise on January 15, 2018. Kyle knew that Jordan loved magic and somehow (he still has not revealed!), he was able to connect with the cruise ship’s magician and developed an elaborate proposal plan, which ended with the engagement ring magically appearing, tears of happiness, and Jordan saying “yes.”

What adjective best describes your spouse on your wedding day? From Jordan HAPPY. I could tell in his eyes, in his smile, in his dance moves….that he was truly happy that we made it to that moment.
Why did you pick Asheville and the Biltmore Estate? My aunt brought me to Christmas at Biltmore when I was about 13 year old. I fell in love with the Estate then and have said since that day that Biltmore is where I wanted to get married. We have come to Biltmore numerous times over the years and we are both very intrigued by the history of the Estate and the family and have both always wanted to have a wedding experience that people wouldn’t be able to attend anywhere else. It was all about the entire weekend wedding experience, not just one day, which is why we wanted a “destination wedding” so people could make a vacation out of it. Asheville itself also has just such a unique culture of food, breweries, art, events, landscape, views, etc. We just love it there and wanted people to experience the city we see as our second home.

Describe your first date? We took a spontaneous day trip to the beach. We listened to Jack Johnson, danced in the middle of street, and went fishing. (From our memory of 13 years ago!)
How long have you been together? We dated for 6 years (got engaged, then broke it off), were apart for 5 years (working on ourselves)…and have now been back together for 2.5 years.

What are your favorite hobbies and activities to do as a couple? We love to go fishing, travel, try nice restaurants, drink good wine, relax on the back porch after a long day at work and just spend time together.
What stood out to you the most when you think of your wedding? Looking back now, one of the most special parts of our wedding was that Kyle’s mom was able to make it to see us get married. When we found out in February that she had cancer, her only concern in the world was making it to our wedding, (which was questionable at one point.) Not only did she make it, she was able to dance with Kyle and have the best time she could possibly have, which I know we will never forget. She was hospitalized the week following our wedding, and passed away less than 3 weeks later. To everyone who knew her, being at our wedding was one of the most important moments in her life and we are so happy she could be there to experience it with us.

What was your first dance song and why did you pick it? Ed Sheeran – “Perfect” – the song is about finding the perfect love, and not letting it go this time around, which is perfect for us since this is our second chance to be together. “We were just kids when we fell in love, not knowing what it was, I will not give you up this time.” Perfectly sums it up for us.

What is the one of the funniest things that happened on your wedding day? Someone dropped a bottle on the dance floor…..and somehow it turned into a spin the bottle “dance off” between guests for the next 30 minutes.
What is on your “bucket list” to do together as a married couple? Going on a cruise to Alaska – which we now have planned for June 2020!!Shout out to these professionals that made this day so amazing!
