Sara and Logan’s Snowy Christmas Wedding!

The day before Sara and Logan’s wedding we woke up to snow pouring outside. The forecasters said we would maybe get 1 to 2 inches. It wasn’t long before we realized that forecast was wrong! Normally, we wouldn’t worry about this but we are Asheville wedding photographers and Sara and Logan’s wedding was 2 hours out of town near Winston Salem. We quickly packed, hauled our kids to mom’s, and headed out of town to avoid getting stuck in Asheville. (Yep, we got over 9 inches here!)

I talked to Sara on our way out of town and she was thrilled! They would have a snowy wedding that she had dreamed and prayed for! Logan (whom we have known and loved for over 10 years) has always loved the snow as well. His sisters said that when he was a kid he would be the first one out playing in the snow. And how often do we get to shoot a wedding in the snow?!? Michael and I were excited and their day was perfect, even if it was a bit cold!

Our day started at a beautiful little church.

Logan’s gift to Sara.

Flower girls.

Moments with mom.

Logan serves our Air force and was deployed for 9 months in 2017. We are so grateful for his service!

These fellas were good for a few good laughs! It was absolutely pouring the snow. They were troopers to get out in it for us!

The most beautiful Sara.

These 2 can rock the GQ and Vogue look.

That dress though. <3

So proud of these gals for getting out in the snow for a few photos! It was COLD!

The “around the door moment”

We love Christmas weddings. Twinkle lights make for an awesome background for such a lovely lady.

Ushering.

That moment when you grab your bride and kiss her right after you just got hitched!

Moments with the Mother of the Bride after the ceremony.

As I take the “group photos” Michael hangs around with the zoom and takes photos of family and friends hanging out waiting for photos. These are often some of our favorite candid moments of the day.

This flower girl made me laugh so much. (She has her mom’s personality for sure!)

So many fun things about this photo… mainly the cold flower girl. Sorry Darcy!

Ok, so we know it’s odd to take photos in front of a graveyard… but that graveyard looked so beautiful to us covered in snow!

Oh, Logan… the photos will last longer than your pneumonia. Sara obviously is a trooper about the cold!

“Rocking those boots girl.”

Sara and Logan’s reception was at Bermuda Run Country Club.

Now introducing…

Dad.

One of the coolest women I know. Mrs. Debbie Presnell.

Toast!

Cake smashing.

Let’s party!

Congrats Sara and Logan! Now here is a bit more from them about themselves and their wedding day!

A bit about Sara: I am a small town girl who loves being around family more than anything. I am in school to become an Elementary School Teacher. Growing up I was always a daddy’s girl for sure. My favorite hobbies are shopping (of course), crafting and decorating. I am a true southern belle through and through. My favorite music is country for sure. Give me some George Straight, Garth Brooks, or Shania Twain and I will sing your socks off.

A bit about Logan: I am a small town boy who is in the US Air Force living in Texas. I was homeschooled from Kindergarten until Senior year by my mother. I attended Western Carolina University and received my Bachelors in Criminal Justice. My favorite hobbies are snowboarding, spending time with family and friends, and binge watching Netflix. I am always motived to workout at any time and push myself in my job every single day. Whenever the Panthers are on you can bet I am sitting there watching.

How did you meet? We met through a mutual friend who went to school with Sara in middle and high school and then hung out with Logan in college.

Describe your first date? Our first date was amazing. It felt like we had known each other for forever. Sara flew down to Texas and we went to Olive Garden and a movie. Afterwards we sat around and talked for hours in the room about anything and everything. We both knew this was it for us.

How long have you been together? We have been together for 3 years.

What are your favorite hobbies and activities to do as a couple? As a couple we like to go on adventures as we say. We like to go hiking and finding new places to explore. We also like visiting new cities. We will be moving around a bit so we like exploring new areas and finding new things to do.

Who popped the question and HOW? Logan popped the question. In June 2016 Logan flew into my hometown and went on our family beach trip. On the second day of the trip we went out to take family photos. As Logan and I were taking our photos together Logan turned to me and got down on one knee in the sand and asked me to spend my life with him. Of course I said yes with tears rolling down my face. It was more than perfect! (My family got it all on video and pictures thank goodness)

What adjective best describes your spouse on your wedding day? Romantic.

What tangible detail of your wedding day did you love the most? Our reception. We did not know what to expect when they opened the double doors for us to walk in and we were both so overwhelmed to see all of our family and friends cheering for us and seeing the romantic and beautiful set up.

How many guests attended the wedding? About 175 guests.

What did you and your guests eat at the reception? The guests started out with appetizers which consisted of chicken filled philo cups, tomato bruschetta and a lovely cheese and crackers spread. Once dinner was ready they ate a juicy chicken breast and a saucy beef tips. There was a beautiful salad and creamy mashed potatoes and a colorful dish of mixed vegetables.

What was the flavor of your wedding cake? We didn’t really have a traditional wedding cake. We had cupcakes for all of the guests. We had red velvet, traditional vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and pumpkin spice.

What is the one of the funniest things that happened on your wedding day? The funniest thing that happened on our wedding day was during he reception. I was so worried about my hair and make up and dress that I forgot to put on my garter before the wedding even started. When it was time for the garter toss at the reception I realized I didn’t even put it on. We had to have a technical difficulty time for me to go put the garter on just for Logan to take it off again.

What was your first dance song and why did you pick it? Our first dance song was “Yours” by Russell Dickerson. We picked this song because it explains what we mean to each other. We have spent most of our time apart while we were dating and engaged since he was either deployed or doing a lot with his job. So we always knew we were each others love no matter what came and comes in our way.

What stood out to you the most when you think of your wedding? What stood out to us the most was how both sides of our family and friends came together for us. Throughout the whole weekend we stood back and watched as everyone laughed, talked, told stories and cried together and danced the night away. It really made us realize how lucky we are and how special we are to everyone around us.

What is on your “bucket list” to do together as a married couple? Our “bucket list” is quite long. We want to travel around the US, visit Canada, and desperately wanting to go to Europe. We still have not been on a honeymoon because of Logan’s job but Europe is #1 right now. We can not wait to do these things alone and with a family one day.

Shout out to these professionals that made this day amazing.
