Lauren + Shad’s Lodge at Bear River Wedding!

Lauren and Shad are such happy people.  Anyone who knows them will agree!  The moments at their Lodge at Bear River wedding makes us smile… and laugh out loud too! We love this couple and as you can tell by the photos we had an absolute blast at their wedding!

Lauren and Shad rented Riverdance Cabin 3 minutes from the venue and we were able to get this amazing view for some of the photos.

This was our first wedding at the Lodge at Bear River and we loved it.  It had a homey feel and accommodated their guests well!

We are detail junkies.

Lauren took the time to write each of her bridesmaids a card and included pictures of her with each of them in with the notes. Her mother was included in this as well.

Shad’s note to Lauren brought laughter and tears. He even included sketches.

Lauren’s note to Shad!

Lauren and Shad had one of their 3 dogs at the wedding as the “Best Dog.”

He watched to make sure the ring “pass off” was completed well.

This is the part of the ceremony where they realized they had nothing to light the unity candle with! They asked the guests if they had anything. This gentleman obliged.

Nailed it.

The “Congrats” moments!

The amazing Colorful Palate and their delicious food!

Yes, that dog winked at us!

Onward to the Reception!

They have this “dip stuff” down pat!

With daddy.

With mom.

Back up for some sunset shots at the Riverbend Cabin!

Toast time brought some huge laughs! This is Lauren’s MOH.

Lauren’s brothers!

Groomsmen!

FOB.

We expected nothing less.

Shad had us laughing this whole wedding… oh my!

Congrats Lauren and Shad! We love you guys!

Now a bit more from Lauren and Shad on themselves and their big day!

A bit about Lauren: I love theatre and have my Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts. I have directed some plays in the last few years. I am a Teacher Assistant at an Elementary School for 2nd grade. I love The Beatles, The Allman Brothers, and anything classic rock. My 3 dogs, Chief, Benelli, and Oakley and my cat, Blue, are my world.

A bit about Shad: Plumber. He has a passion for working out and fitness. Shad loves Game of Thrones, Panthers football, and also our 3 dogs and our cat!

How did you meet? We met in October 2010 through mutual friends. We were both out one evening in Greensboro and played a couple games of Foosball, and we just started talking.

Describe your first date? We went hiking at Hanging Rock. It was a surprise date so I wore flip flops and a dress since I didn’t know where we were going. Turns out it was a hiking date.

How long have you been together? We have been together 7 years.

What are your favorite hobbies and activities to do as a couple? We love to do anything outdoors. We completed the Spartan Race Trifecta together, Sprint Super and Beast, and hope to complete some more races. We run in our neighborhood and different parks after work. We love to take our 3 amazing pups hiking all the time.

Who popped the question and HOW? Shad popped the question in New York City at Christmas. We went to the City from December 16th-20th in 2015 because I had been begging him to go with me (I love the City and he had never been) and while we were there he asked me to marry him. It was at the Southport peir in front of the huge Christmas tree. We then went to Times Square and bought some Champagne! The next 4 days we spent in NYC having a great time and touring all we could fit in. Central Park, Ice Skating, Jersey Boys on Broadway, The Statue of Liberty, The Empire State Building, One World Trade Memorial.. we did it all!

Why did you pick Bear River Lodge? Our love for the outdoors. The mountain views, the river, the lodge.. everything fit us and our personalities perfect. It was truly the perfect venue. Also, we LOVED the Riverdance cabin we stayed in the whole weekend as well.

What adjective best describes your spouse on your wedding day? Romantic.

What tangible detail of your wedding day did you love the most? Having our dog Chief there. He means the world to us. We couldn’t have all 3 pups, but Chief took the job over for all 3 and he was so good. Our Best Dog!

How many guests attended the wedding? Approx. 100

What did you and your guests eat at the reception? The Colorful Palate.. Salad Bar, Macaroni Bar, Chicken.. the best of Southern Food

What was the flavor of your wedding cake? Traditional wedding cake

What is the one of the funniest things that happened on your wedding day? My dad’s speech.. “Pace yourselves… You’ll be alright.” Ha ha (If you know my dad, this is the funniest speech ever.)

What was your first dance song and why did you pick it? Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You – Frankie Valli.. We chose this because we saw Jersey Boys on Broadway the night after we got engaged in New York. We took dance lessons all summer to have a choreographed first dance!

What stood out to you the most when you think of your wedding? First off, Shads smile when I made it down the aisle. Also, my family, friends, and my dog Chief all being with us.

What is on your “bucket list” to do together as a married couple? We want to take a trip every year, even if it’s small, to celebrate us.
