Caitlin + Paul’s Biltmore Wedding

Caitlin and Paul had a gorgeous Biltmore wedding in September.  Talk about a luxury wedding! This was it. The ceremony was on the tennis lawn and the reception was on the south terrace next to the house.

The tennis lawn with an excellent view of the house! And that flower aisle was WOW! The reception was under this gorgeous tent that looked more like a 5 star hotel ballroom than a tent on the inside. The views from the south terrace are hard to beat as well.

The Mozingos love working with Bobby/Mark’s Design. Mark did the design and planning and Bobby did the amazing flowers!

Shout out to Classic Event Rental for the amazing tent and rentals.

Caitlin’s dress was a show stopper. The back of it was one of the most beautiful we have seen. SUCH detail in that dress!

Father of the bride moment.

First look!

Caitlin’s grandparents. We loved them.

You may think we planned to have them here in this arch way but really they are hiding from guests arriving! 🙂

We spent some time hanging out in the tent before the ceremony.

Onward to the ceremony!

Peeking.

With tears in his eyes he welcomes his bride.

We loved how Caitlin and Paul had certain family members and friends come up and read meaningful excerpts. They were both funny and emotional. It added such a wonderful personal touch to the ceremony.

Cocktail hour was held on the Library Terrace of the Biltmore House.

This is one of our favorite places to photograph a Biltmore Estate wedding reception.

We stole the bride and groom away for a few night shots in front of the house.

Toast time may have started with a song.

A toast from Caitlin’s grandfather.

Dad… and that flower in his hair. <3

Fathers and daughters.

Party Time!

Congrats Caitlin and Paul!!

Now, a  little bit more from Caitlin and Paul about themselves and their big day!

A bit about Caitlin: Caitlin grew up in the Washington, DC area. After undergrad at Georgetown, she moved to New York City for dental school at Columbia. She then moved to Chapel Hill, NC for medical school and to complete residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UNC Hospital. This is her last year of residency and she plans to continue her surgical education with a fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at Orlando Health. From a personality standpoint, she is very “Type A”.

A bit about Paul: Paul is from outside of Cleveland and is the second oldest of six children. He completed his MD/PhD at the University of Iowa and moved to Chapel Hill to complete his General Surgery residency at UNC Hospital. This is also Paul’s last year of residency and he is currently interviewing for fellowship in Colorectal Surgery. Paul is definitely more laid back than Caitlin and helps balance her out.

How did you meet? A mutual friend encouraged us both to attend the Cupid Undies Run in downtown Raleigh, NC on February 14, 2015. This is a nationwide event involving a one-mile run through the streets in one’s underwear on Valentine’s Day. Paul came to the run despite being exhausted from 24 hours of call the day before and sparks immediately flew. He asked Caitlin out on a date that day.

Describe your first date? We went to a sushi restaurant in Durham. Caitlin actually already had another date planned with someone else that day so we went out for lunch instead of dinner. We spent over 2 hours talking and quickly planned another date. In case your wondering, Caitlin did go on her other date that night, but that was the last time she “double booked” Paul.

How long have you been together? Since February 14, 2015. I believe that is 31 months.

What are your favorite hobbies and activities to do as a couple? Traveling, hiking and working out. Some of our favorite nights involve ordering take out, enjoying bottle of wine and playing Mario Cart. Really, anytime we can both turn off our pagers is a victory.

Who popped the question and HOW? We were on vacation in Kauai, Hawaii in November 2016. We went on an afternoon hike in Waimea Canyon and Paul pulled Caitlin aside to a private area near a waterfall and popped the question. Caitlin obviously said yes and we celebrated drinking champagne on the beach.

Why did you pick Asheville and The Biltmore Estate? Caitlin did a four month rotation in Asheville, NC from July through October of 2017. Paul came to visit every weekend he had off and we both fell in love with Asheville. Our time living apart also help solidify our relationship and desire to spend our lives together. We never felt as connected to Chapel Hill as we did to Asheville so when we were deciding where to get married, that was an easy decision for us. In terms of the Biltmore Estate, I couldn’t imagine a more beautiful place to get married. The history, house and gardens speak for themselves.

What adjective best describes your spouse on your wedding day? Paul was emotional. Caitlin was ecstatic.

What tangible detail of your wedding day did you love the most?  My dress! I fell in love with the back of the dress when I saw it online and went to multiple bridal boutiques to find one that carried Berta dresses. I ended up buying the dress at Carine’s Bridal in Georgetown while Paul was enjoying a beer at a pub down the street. I walked in without an appointment just three hours before I had to catch a flight to Colorado and begged them to let me try it on. Thankfully they did, and I immediately purchased the dress.

How many guests attended the wedding? 155

What did you and your guests eat at the reception? Crab cakes to start, followed by a goat cheese and spinach salad (we love goat cheese!) and for the main course duck and scallops with risotto.

What was the flavor of your wedding cake? Two flavors: carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and chocolate cake with Godiva chocolate and peanut butter frosting.

What is the one of the funniest things that happened on your wedding day? Caitlin didn’t want to go to the sparkler exit because she didn’t want the party to end. Paul and the our wedding planner, Mark, convinced her to go!

What was your first dance song and why did you pick it? “A Thousand Years” by the Piano Guys. We just loved the instrumental version.

What stood out to you the most when you think of your wedding? Our guests! We were so grateful that so many friends and family could come celebrate with us. We know it wasn’t easy for a lot of people to get there but we were so fortunate that so many people made the trip.

What is on your “bucket list” to do together as a married couple? Minimoon on Kiawah Island. Honeymoon in South Africa next spring. Finish residency and move for fellowship next summer!! It’s a big year!

Shout out to these professionals that made this luxury wedding amazing!
