Katelyn and Kevin’s Crest Pavilion Wedding!

Katelyn and Kevin were married at the Crest Pavilion in August. Michael and I were thrilled to get to be a part of this amazing day. Katelyn and I (Meriah) bonded when we did her bridal session in early summer and I was so excited to see this beauty marry her Kevin.

“Sometimes rainy days bring the most glorious sunsets.” This is the encouragement I gave to Katelyn and Kevin’s wedding because it straight up down poured about 30 minutes before the ceremony. We were scrambling to move it inside when it stopped raining! So the awesome staff of M7 Events wiped the chairs off… again… and the ceremony began!

But lets back up to the beginning of the day! I was able to ride the trolley with Katelyn and Michael got to ride the trolley with Kevin to the Crest!

The beautiful Katelyn!

Let the ceremony begin!

A really cool fog appeared during the ceremony. Wow! We love this view!

A welcome and toast from the father of the bride!

A toast from “the brothers”

Let the party begin!

We brought our “photo fun center” and our good buddy and fellow photographer Rebekah helped us by taking these REALLY fun shots!

Congrats Katelyn and Kevin!

Here is a bit more from this awesome couple!

A bit about Katelyn: I am currently a Franchise Recruiter / Transfer Specialist for a company called Pure Barre. We have almost 500 franchises across the US and Canada, so my job provides tons of excitement! On top of that, I have been a client at the local studio for 4+ years and a teacher for 3+ years. Aside from my never-ending of Pure Barre, my dog is my number one love. I enjoy doing anything I possibly can with her like tons of walks, running, hiking, goldfish eating, and napping! You probably got the hint from my bridal portraits!

A bit about Kevin: Kevin is much more interesting – He is in his fourth season with Wofford Men’s Basketball as an assistant coach.

4 SOCON champions (2 as a player and 2 as a coach).
Four time letterman for Wofford
#9 in the nation for minutes played per game
Played in Iceland professionally from 2012-13

How did you meet? I was working at a local dry cleaner while finishing up school and he was a client. After some small talk at work we ended up running into each other… at a bar. It was pretty instant after that!

Describe your first date? Kevin was in basketball season with only a few moments to spare, so we grabbed lunch at a local French style restaurant called Mon Amie. It’s still one of my favorite places for brunch with my girlfriends! #mimosas

How long have you been together? 3.5 years

What are your favorite hobbies and activities to do as a couple? My family lives on Mountain Island Lake in Charlotte, NC, so our summers are spent wakeboarding and wakesurfing. Winter is all basketball!

Who popped the question and HOW? Kevin! We had planned to go away for his birthday on October 9th, but Hurricane Matthew had other plans. We ended up in Atlanta. After a long day of going to the aquarium and Sweet Water Brewery, we had some time to spare before our dinner reservations. Needless to say, I am the MOST hangry human in the entire world. We were walking through a park to pass time before our reservation and I was super ready for food and a cocktail. At this point I was in full-blown sassy mode. Kevin finely made me “sit down and shut up” on a bench so he could propose. Fast forward 10 months and we are married, and I am still hangry all the time!

Why did you pick Asheville and the Crest Center? Asheville is only an hour away from Spartanburg where we live, and we have always enjoyed our visits. August was the only month that would work for our schedules and we were praying the mountains would provide some relief from the southern heat! Also, the VIEWS!

What adjective best describes your spouse on your wedding day? Serene – He was calm and composed, which is what everyone needs during that high-stress time!

What tangible detail of your wedding day did you love the most?  Sunset – Once the rain was over the scenery was the most breath-taking sight.

How many guests attended the wedding? 220

What did you and your guests eat at the reception? Kevin and I are very active and healthy individuals, but we let our inner “fat kid” lose that day!

Chicken fajitas
Fish tacos
Cheese dip, guacamole, and salsa bar
Beef tenderloin
Spinach salad
Roasted vegetables

What was the flavor of your wedding cake? I think it was chocolate and vanilla depending on the layer. There were tons of other deserts – cookies, tarts, macaroons, cupcakes. Unfortunately, Kevin and I never tasted a bite, because we were too busy on the dance floor haha!

What is the one of the funniest things that happened on your wedding day? My bridesmaids and I played Farkle (a dice game) while we were getting ready. It quickly turned into the most competitive game of the century and it kept the nerves at bay!

What was your first dance song and why did you pick it? All On Me by Devin Dawson – It is a more upbeat song which fits our personality. We appreciate a good sappy love song, but it just isn’t our style. In addition to that, we live very independent lives. We both have successful careers and spend more time apart than together. It works great for us. One of the lyrics says “you got my number you can call on me”, and at the end of the day both of us know that we are just a call away.

What stood out to you the most when you think of your wedding? The amount of loved ones that go out of their way to be with you. It’s an amazing feeling have all of your most important people in the same room.

What is on your “bucket list” to do together as a married couple? We want to see the world together! It is our goal to take one vacation with only the two of us in a new location each year.
