Our Story as Asheville Wedding Photographers
Hi! We are Michael and Meriah Mozingo, the husband and wife photography team based out of the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.
Our story starts here.
One day, waaay back in the day, while Michael was waiting tables, a stunningly beautiful girl walked in and caught his eye. This girl was Meriah’s best friend Meredith. 😉 Well, as it turned out that they never dated but Meredith did introduce Michael to Meriah.
Michael: One of the things that initially attracted me to Meriah was her spunk. Before dating, we attended a small group together and one evening she flat out wrestled this other guy. After all, she grew up with two older brothers who made her tough. I liked that she was always down to go on a camping trip or venture into a cave to go spelunking. I also like that she has a strong feminine side as well. She likes to be pampered with massages and pedicures and insists that movies should ALWAYS have a happy ending. In general, she loves being outdoors, things like working in her flower garden or hiking a trail to a scenic waterfall.
Meriah: Can I just tell you what an amazing guy Michael is? His love for people is genuine and that is what initially attracted me to him. He sees no social barriers and has kept up with almost every friend he has ever had (it must be peaking in the 1000’s by now). He is super friendly and laid back and he will talk to anyone! His greatest loves (other than me and the boys, of course) 😉 is fishing, cooking, and underground hip hop music. He has a love affair with ice cream and dreams of traveling out west.
We were married on a beautiful September day in 2007. We share a deep love for each other and we truly are best friends.
We laugh a lot.
Because we are a little goofy.
We enjoy travel.
And a little adventure. (This is us spelunking in a wild cave!)
For our first Christmas together, Michael bought Meriah a digital SLR camera. And so it began. She became obsessed with photography and was like a sponge soaking up knowledge on the subject. At age 28 she had finally found her passion.
Three years after starting Mozingo Photography, Michael jumped on board. They officially became a husband and wife photography team! With his own style of artistry (and being a guy), Michael brings a different approach to the world of weddings.
Since we work together all the time this happened…
And in January 2013 we welcomed our sweet baby Ezra to our family! This was one of the most beautiful days of our lives.
Ezra changed our life and our perspective of it. He brought us so much joy we decided there needed to be more of that joy floating around so this happened…
In July 2015 we welcomed our sweet little Elliot. We doubled the special moments and doubled the trouble! 😉
The Mozingos are now a team of 4 and our lives have completely changed. Our world now holds new life and new purpose.
We take time to enjoy the little things through the eyes of a child.
We try to soak up the fleeting moments.
Things like Christmas have a whole new excitement to them.
Our home life is a little wild and crazy at times! Rambunctiousness and high volume abound but there are loads of giggles sprinkled in all the chaos.
Over the years, we’ve discovered that life really boils down to relationships. We recognize this and celebrate it in our own marriage and with our families and friends. Each relationship we share in is unique and vibrant. Each one has a story to tell. Each one deserves to be remembered. As photographers, we love that the essence of our work has purpose and is meaningful. With all of this in mind, we work hard at bringing unique artistry that captures the authentic life and personality of each individual and event. We understand the value of what we do and strive to be professional without forgetting to have a lot of fun as well! Thank you for taking a moment to read a piece of our adventure. It would be our pleasure to be a part of your story too.
“We’re all traveling through time together. Every day of our lives. All we can do is do our best to relish this remarkable ride.” – About Time (the movie)
